April at Vertical
Getting our JOY back
After a tough winter for many of us, let's continue allowing the Holy Spirit to rebuild our JOY. Last month, Jake Stein shared his testimony about how the Lord has brought about growth and change in his life. Thank you, Jesus, for walking with us everyday!!
Jesus, we pray for JOY in you this April! Help us remember your promises. And help us to see those around us who need to hear your truth.

A culture of invitation
So many of you invited friends, neighbors, family, or coworkers to Easter services last weekend!
The pastors got to meet, and even pray with, many first-times guests. Continue praying that the Gospel message that was preached would stir up those people toward repentance and salvation in Christ. We believe He will do it!
Inviting someone to church could change their eternity. Keep asking the Lord who He would have you invite to church, and as a body let's commit to building a culture of continuous invitation at Vertical.

Getting our JOY back
A study in Philippians
New sermon series starts this Sunday! We'll spend the next several weeks in a deep dive through the book of Philippians.
Writing from the darkness of a prison cell, Paul talks about joy in this book more than any other book in the Bible. The themes are joy in God's people, joy in suffering, joy in the Gospel, joy in conflict, joy in our future, joy, joy, joy.
Bring a Bible and a friend who needs JOY this Sunday.

Vertical Kids - Jesus as a human
The kiddos in Vertical Kids will spend this month continuing their look at the book of Acts and learning about how Jesus became human to obey His Father's plan to rescue sinners.
They'll also be looking at Isaiah 53:5 as their key verse:
"But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed."

Groups
Uptown Minneapolis
This group has been spending each gathering discussing a real-life topic, looking at what the Bible says and considering how to apply it to their circumstances.
A few weeks back, they discussed what the Word says about happiness. They asked questions like, "Is happiness a worthy thing to pursue?" and "What does it look like to pursue our own happiness vs. God's will?"
This group feels these conversations have been a great way to share about their lives with each other! If you're not in a Community Group, consider being known and getting to know others in a group like this one.
